President to Muslim Parents: prioritize girl child education

President Akufo Addo has called on Muslim parents to take advantage of the government’s free education policy to get their children especially females to school.

Referencing the Prophet Muhammed, Nana Addo said, ‘one knowledgeable believer is harder on the devil than a hundred ignorant believers’ indicating that education is very necessary even in religion and therefore all parents must endeavour to get their wards enrolled into school.

Addressing a section of Muslims at the Black Star Square today September 1 to commemorate the Eid Ul Adha, Nana Addo said the sure way to help develop Ghana is to get educated and as a one stop solution, the NPP led government has introduced the Free SHS policy to eliminate the major barrier in seeking secondary education that’s poverty.

He added that parents in the Muslim communities must take the education of the girl child serious "we shall be perpetuating ignorance, poverty and disease if the trainers of the generation Ghanaians remain uneducated."

The President used the opportunity to ask for prayers for all  Hajj pilgrims currently in Mecca especially the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu.
