Prez gives approval for 1000 lecturers to be absorbed by public universities

President John Mahama has disclosed he's given approval for over 1000 lecturers to be absorbed by public universities adding the directive is cure deficiencies in public tertiary institutions lacking quality teaching and learning modules as well as faculty.

He made this known at the maiden congregation of the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho, the Volta Regional capital.

The University's operation begun in  2012 with 155 students but it currently has a population of 2,017. It  has graduated 171 students with various degrees in health related programmes including midwifery, nursing, medical laboratory sciences, dietetics and public health. 

Former first lady Mrs Ernestina Naadu Mills, Prof Samuel Kofi Sefa-Dedeh and Dr Christian Botchway were all presented with Honorary Doctorates.
