The Minister of Railways Development has revealed that 200 companies from around the world have shown interest in investing in the sector.

According to Joe Ghartey, some of these companies, are coming from China, Germany, New Zealand, United States of America and others.

Speaking at an event on Monday, August 7, as part of President Akufo-Addo's tour of the Central region, Joe Ghartey indicated that by the end of 2020, the entire railway network in the country would be developed.

“We have also started the design of the Western Standard Gauge Railway line from Kojokrom towards Tarkwa and beyond." he stated.

The sector Minister observed that the neglect of the sector since independence has  contributed to the county's retarded pace of development.

He is of the conviction that with the transformation of the sector more jobs would be created and many people would have a gainful employment. Ghanaians shall also be able to easily travel around the country to conduct their businesses.
