The Central Committee of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) has served the acting General Secretary of the party Akani Tanoh with a dismissal letter. The letter signed by the CPP National Chairman, Professor Edmund N. Delle posits that the acting general secretary has breached Articles 13, 111, 121 and 124 of the party’s constitution which are related to the conduct of executive officers.

The decision which was reached on Thursday by the party’s Central Committee (CC) at an emergency meeting is asking Mr Tanoh to return party properties in his possession.

“Take heed to return any party property, document, or material in your possession which came under your custody as Acting General Secretary in your own interest.”

Reacting to the letter, Mr Tanoh described the claims made against him as “bogus and useless,” urging Ghanaians to disregard it.

He believes he did not commit any offence, pointing out he only spoke publicly about the "corrupt activities" of the party's 2016 flagbearer, Ivor Kobina Greenstreet and other executive members of the CPP.

"They have breached all the provisions in the constitution," he said, adding the party's CC should concern itself with the corrupt tendencies of the party's leadership.
