The Minister of Roads and Highways, Inusah Fuseini, has strongly rejected claims that he paid Shatta Wale GHC80,000 to perform at his campaign launch on Sunday.

Mr Fuseini has faced criticism from a section of the public which has questioned how he raised the amount.

The claims formed the basis upon which a youth group aligned to the Nation Democratic Congress (NDC), Aluta Boys, seized a Nissan pickup vehicle belonging to the minister in Tamale on Sunday.

Aluta Boys told Accra-based Citi FM that whereas they were struggling with unemployment, Mr Fuseini had thousands of Ghana cedis to give to Shatta Wale.

On social media, the minister was condemned as a corrupt public official by some Ghanaians.

In an interview on Accra-based Joy FM on Monday, however, Mr Fuseini denied making the payments, stressing that he did "pay a dime to Shatta Wale".

He said the musician, whom he called his friend, had performed for free for free at the event.
