General Secretary of the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) Johnson Asiedu Nketia has alleged that wife of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) vice presidential candidate Samira Bawumia, has been an executive of the NDC’s student wing for years.

According to him, Samira Bawumia was a Women's Organizer of the NDC’s Tertiary Educational Institutions Network (TEIN) in one of the universities in Ghana which he refused to name.

Speaking on Asempa FM's Ekosii Sen on Monday, the NDC General Secretary also said the couple were active members of the incumbent National Democratic Congress NDC but have lost their birthrights after joining the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“Samira and Bawumia have strong connections to the NDC. Bawumia’s mother was an NDC constituency women organiser, and his elder brother was also appointed an Ambassador to Burkina Faso and another brother of his contested on the ticket of the NDC as the Parliamentary candidate, and Samira’s brother is also contesting at Adentan on NDC ticket,” he stated.

He, therefore, expressed shock that Dr. Bawumia and his wife 'who are dyed-in-the-wool NDC' traded a “people-centered political party like the NDC” to join the NPP which “believes in a class society.”

Mr. Asiedu Nketia forewarned the “dyed-in-the-wool NDC” couple Dr. Bawumia and Samira Bawumia never to ponder on returning to the NDC because they have lost their inheritance in the party.
