Asante Kotoko Confederations Cup likely opponent Kariobangi Sharks Chairman, Robert Maoga has called on the supporters of Hearts Of Oak to support the Sharks when they come up with Kotoko.

Kenya's top flight side Kariobangi looks all but certainly confident of securing qualification to the 1/16 stage of the CAF Confederations Cup after cruising to emphatic 6-1 home victory over Arta Solar FC of Djibouti in the first leg of the preliminary stage.

The Sharks look forward to finishing the job in the second leg on 4th December at the Stade El Hadj Hassan to set up a blockbuster clash with Ghana's Asante Kotoko.

In an exclusive interview with Kumasi based-station FOX FM, Robert Maoga, Chairman of Kariobangi Sharks has called upon fans of Accra Hearts of Oak to throw their massive support for the Nairobi based giants to beat Kotoko for the match in Kumasi.

"We would like to tell the fans of Hearts of Oak to come and support us for victory (against Kotoko)", Maoga told FOX FM.

As the oldest club in Ghana, Accra Hearts of Oak boasts of 20 league titles, 3 less of Kotoko's tally and the former Continental club masters are undoubtedly the fiercest rivals of the Africa's Club of the 20th Century.

Asked whether a likely support from the Phobian fan base will play a pivotal role in Kariobangi's quest to overcome Kotoko, Maoga bursted into a friendly laughter in a seeming affirmation

Kariobangi Sharks gained promotion into the Kenya Premier League in 2017, where they delivered an impressive performance to finish 3rd with 52 points in 34 matches in the 2017/2018 season.
