Dutch Legend Johan Cruyff Dies At 68

Legendary Dutch football player and coach Johan Cruyff has died aged 68.


Cruyff, who was capped 48  times by the Netherlands and had also played for Ajax and Barcelona, passed away on Thursday after a battle with cancer.

'On March 24 2016 Johan Cruyff (68) died peacefully in Barcelona, surrounded by his family after a hard fought battle with cancer. It’s with great sadness that we ask you to respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief', a statement on Cruyff's website.

The three-time Ballon d'Or winner who won three European Cups and eight Dutch titles with Ajax, disclosed he had with lung cancer last October according to guardian.co.uk.

He enjoyed highly successful spells as coach of Ajax and later Barcelona after retiring in 1984.
