Ghana's Isaac Dogboe is set to contest for the world title after putting up an outstanding performance to defeat his Argentine opponent Nicholas Javier Chacon in Accra on Saturday night.

Dogboe won the bout via a technical knockout in the sixth rounds of engagement.

Nicknamed the 'Royal Storm', Dogboe stepped into the fight at the Bukom Boxing Arena and thrilled audience at the filled to capacity venue with his strength and skills in the ring.

The Ghanaian dominated the fight from the first round, landing some thunderous punches which occasionally dazed his tricky opponent who was denied adequate room to operate.

Chacon occasionally came out with some dangerous punches and antics to keep the fight moving but that was not enough to deter his opponent.

He was surprisingly 'finished' after the sixth round when the fight was gaining momentum, a time many thought he was about to come back into the game. He could not return after suffering a hand injury, kind courtesy, hefty puches delivered freely by Dogboe.

The win saw Dogboe retain his WBO International Super Bantamweight title and heading towards the world title.

The Ghanaian is currently unbeaten in 17 fights while Chacon has lost four from 25 outings.

Dogboe after the fight, said he is determined to give Ghana the world title scheduled for Las Vegas later in the year.

He said, Chacon was a great boxer on the night who employed lots of tricks and also used his head to frustrate him(Dogboe).

"I just had to keep my focus to win the bout and now looking forward to making the nation proud", he stated.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings decorated Dogboe with the title. Present were Azumah Nelson and President of GBA, Peter Zwennes.
