Asante Kotoko has claimed their 10th MTN FA Cup title after a thrilling 2-1 victory over Golden Kick in the final at the University of Ghana Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors scored a last-gasp penalty, converted by Ghanaian international Kwame Opoku in injury time, to secure the win.

The match got off to a promising start for Asante Kotoko, with Kwame Opoku getting on the end of a well-delivered free kick from Lord Amoah to open the scoring in the 17th minute. However, Golden Kick responded strongly, and Bless Ege leveled the scores with a sumptuous free kick in the 32nd minute.

The second half was intense and physical, with both teams creating chances and swinging the game from one end of the pitch to the other. As the match approached its climax, the tension mounted, and it seemed like the game could go either way. But just before the full-time whistle, Asante Kotoko were awarded a penalty after a clash between Kwame Opoku and Golden Kick goalkeeper Kelvin Saaba. Opoku himself stepped up and coolly converted the spot kick to seal the victory for the Reds.

The win marks a significant achievement for Asante Kotoko, adding to their rich history in Ghanaian football. The team's fans celebrated jubilantly, basking in the glory of their team's success. With this victory, Asante Kotoko not only claims the MTN FA Cup title but also earns a spot in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup, capping off an impressive campaign.
