Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah says he is counting on the foreign-based players for triumph over Ethiopia on Sunday in the Group F 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Black Stars were dormant last month in the AFCON qualifier following the postponement of the double-header against Sierra Leone.

They, therefore, faced a Ghana Premier League club, Kotoko in a friendly match and humbled the Premier League club 3-0 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The senior national team has come under immense pressure after their defeat to Kenya in Nairobi and are expected to brush aside Ethiopia to boost their qualification chances.

Upon this, Kwesi Appiah has recalled the 'senior players' of the Black Stars notably Dede Ayew, Asamoah Gyan and Jordan Ayew to boost their winning chances against the Walias.

"It's important to get a win to make sure we qualify then everybody will relax," coach Kwesi Appiah told Nation Sport after the session.

"All our players play abroad where they come fully prepared, knowing the situation, it's psychologically important to let them know we are going out for a win on Sunday.

"Ghana has a lot of players, it's important you don't rely on what you have only. You always make sure you have a backup, only four players here made the Kenya game."

Black Stars will face Ethiopia in Group F AFCON qualifier in Addis Ababa on Sunday.
