Former Hearts of Oak player, Uriah Asante has had his final funeral rites observed at the Kaneshie Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints leading to his burial at the Gbawe Cemetary on Saturday.
24-year-old Asante had complained of chest pains while on vacation in the country and reportedly died from a cardiac arrest in June.
Uriah Asante warmed himself into the hearts of football fans when he joined Hearts of Oak for the 2009/2010 season from Pure Joy, a Division One League side.
Not just a player but also a graduate of the University of Ghana, Asante was articulate and had a keen understanding of the game, human management and public relations becoming a toast of the club, colleague players, management and journalists.
Uriah also served his nation with the national U-23 side that won gold at the 2011 All Africa Games.
