Esperance head coach Mouine Chaabani has reflected on leading his team to beat Al Ahly to lift the 2018 CAF Champions League trophy.

The 37-year-old Tunisian made his own personal history as the youngest coach to ever win the biggest prize in African club football on Friday, 9 November 2018.

“We[Esperance] overcame very tough circumstances before the game, we were disturbed with suspensions and sudden injuries, in addition to the score of the first leg but now we are the African winners,” said a very emotional Chaabani.

Chaabani tearfully dedicated the win to ‘those who left this world'.

“The defeat in the first leg broke us and made us live a whole week in a great nervous strain. I had people in my life that I wish they had come today, but they left our world,” Chaâbani said while breaking into tears.
