Black Stars defender Gideon Mensah has completed a move to French Ligue 1 outfit FC Girondins de Bordeaux.
The left-back has joined the club on a season-long loan from Austrian Bundesliga giants Red Bull Salzburg with an option to buy
“FC Girondins de Bordeaux is pleased to announce the arrival of Gideon Mensah, on loan with option to purchase for the coming season,†an official statement on the website of the French club has said.
Sporting Director for Bordeaux believes his outfit has made a really good addition to the team. He described the Ghanaian as 'a modern defender.'
"Gideon is a modern defender. He will bring us all his energy. He is a player who will please our supporters because he gives everything. Personally, I would also like to thank him for trusting us in this new project," he said.
The 23-year-old last season spent the campaign on loan in Portugal where he played for top-flight side Vittoria Guimares.

During that spell, he made 22 appearances for the team and was a key player for the side.
In the seasons before, Gideon Mensah played for Zulte Waregem and Sturm Graz.
