Scattered thunder storms and rains to hit Accra tonight – Meteo warns

The coastal and the southern part of Ghana, especially the Greater Accra Region, will experience scattered thunderstorms and rain showers in the evening of Wednesday, June 20, 2018, the Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMA) at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), has predicted.

According to the Meteo, the intermittent showers are expected to begin from 6pm through to the night.

Duty Forecaster for the GMA at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Raphael Osei Boakye, in an interview with Prime News Ghana in Accra on Wednesday said, the light and moderate showers will start around 6pm till late in the night.

“It is not any massive thing like we've had in the last two days. It is light to moderate rain”, Mr. Osei Boakye added.

The Forecaster added that “there is a weak system over the coast of Benin and Togo and that is affecting Ghana in the coastal and southern part”.

Heavy downpour on Monday night caused havoc in parts of the country, especially, Accra. Some lives were lost and several property destroyed.
