Two firefighters have sustained injuries while responding to a late-night fire that ripped through a two-storey, eight-room building at Adjiringano near Ability Square on Friday, November 14, 2025.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the distress call came in at 9:32 pm, prompting the Legon Fire Station to dispatch the first crew, who arrived at the scene at 10:03 pm. Reinforcement teams from Madina, Adenta and the National Headquarters, along with a private water tanker, later joined in to ensure a steady water supply as the blaze intensified.

Firefighters battled the flames for hours, bringing the situation under control at 12:16 am and finally extinguishing it at 1:08 am.

Seven out of the eight rooms on the top floor were completely burnt, but the crew managed to salvage one room, as well as the entire ground floor and nearby structures.

The GNFS confirmed that two firefighters sustained injuries in the line of duty. One suffered a stab wound to the left arm, while the other was hit on the left shoulder by a falling block. Both were treated and discharged from Unity Clinic in Madina.

Meanwhile, the Service is appealing to the public for information that could lead to the arrest of the individual who stabbed one of the firefighters during the operation.

In a Facebook post, the GNFS announced: “We have a special reward for anyone who helps us find the person who stabbed our firefighter and absconded during firefighting at Adjiringano last night. Kindly call this number 0291702096 now with information to help get this wicked fellow arrested to face the law.”

The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
