The Amedzofe Canopy Walkway in the Volta Region has been temporarily closed after one of the small exit pillars supporting a section of the structure was damaged on Wednesday.

Management of the popular ecotourism site said the closure is a precautionary measure to ensure visitor safety while a full investigation is carried out.

A team of local and international engineers has been deployed to assess the affected pillar, examine the overall integrity of the walkway, and recommend the necessary repairs before it can reopen.

“The walkway will remain closed until all safety requirements have been fully met and the structure is declared completely secure for public use,” the management statement said.

Officials apologised for the inconvenience caused and thanked tourists, tour operators, and community partners for their understanding.

“Your safety remains our highest priority,” they added.

The Amedzofe Canopy Walkway is a major attraction in the Volta Region, offering visitors elevated views of the surrounding forest and promoting ecotourism in the area.
