King Faisal Babies will aim for the three points when they take on Real Tamale United on matchday 16 of the Ghana Premier League at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium today.

With two games to end the first round of the competition, King Faisal have dropped to 6th in the log – their worse placing in the League since the commencement of the season.

They started the campaign in a scintillating fashion with three straight wins against WAFA (1-0), Aduana FC (3-1) and AshantiGold SC (2-0) but have yet to win a League match since December 21, when they defeated Dreams FC 3-2 in Kumasi.

The Insha Allah boys have gone four games without a win – their longest winless run in the season after dropping points against Eleven Wonders (2-0), Karela United, (2-0), Great Olympics (1-0) and Accra Hearts of Oak (1-0).

Coach Nurudeen Amadu is in dire need of a win to end the clubs four match winless run and also to improve their position in the League log as the first half is fast approaching.

King Faisal have scored 16 goals and forward Zubairu Ibrahim has contributed half of the tally for the season thus far having scored 7 of those goals. Franklyn Osei, Osman Ibrahim and Enoch Morison have all contributed goals in the League.

Real Tamale United are 11th in the League table and will be missing the services of hero David Abagna who is out with toe injury.

The winger scored 6 goals before leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations but continues to stay on the sidelines because of the setback.

The Northern giants have won only once in their last four outings but their last result in Kumasi could spear them in this encounter following a come from behind draw against leaders Asante Kotoko. King Faisal’s last home match ended in a 2-0 defeat to Karela United on Friday, January 14 at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.

This fixture which is scheduled for 3pm kick off on Saturday will be live on StarTimes Adepa channel 247.

Elsewhere, Accra Lions have a chance to make a statement in the League when they take on Medeama SC.

With two games to end the first round of the elite competition, the new boys have been off colour in recent weeks having amassed only 16 points after 15 Premier League games (a possible 45) and sit in 16th place in the League log – needing a major comeback to save their season.

Accra Lions, who only qualified to the Premier League this season have won 4, lost 7 and drawn 4 of their matches and find themselves in the bottom half of the League table – one point above Techmian Eleven Wonders and 8 points ahead of Elmina Sharks who languish at the bottom with 8 points from 15 matches.

Frederick Asante scored an absolute beauty on Sunday but that wasn’t enough to save them as they lost 3-1 to Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park.

They have won only once in their last five outings following two defeats to AshantiGold (1-0) and Berekum Chelsea (3-1), a 1-0 win against Legon Cities on January 3, and two stalemates against WAFA (0-0) and Aduana FC (1-1).

Medeama SC registered their first away win of the season on December 12 – when they inflicted a 1-0 win on Real Tamale United at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale.

The Tarkwa lads again beat AshantiGold SC by the same goal margin on Match Day 11 at the Len Clay Stadium on Monday, January 3 when Ebenezer Ackahbi netted the only goal of the match to seal victory for the mauves and yellows.

The two-time FA Champions suffered a humiliating 4-0 loss to Bechem United on the opening day of the season –their worse result in the campaign thus far but Coach Umar Abdul Rabi has done a remarkable job by turning their season around after replacing Ignatius Osei Fosu in November last year.

The Tarkwa lads have not scored more than two goals in a single win this season making them one of the teams with a fewer number of goals in the campaign – having netted 10 and conceded 8 in 15 Premier League matches.

Godfred Kwadwo Asamoah scored on Sunday to give them a hard earned 1-0 win over Elmina Sharks at Akoon Park – taking them to the third spot with 26 points – 7 points behind Asante Kotoko who lead the League table with 33 points after 15 matches.

A win for Accra Lions would take them out of the relegation Zone while Medeama SC keeps an eye on a win to keep their place in the Top Four.

The match will be played at the Accra Sports stadium at 3pm on Saturday.
