Asante Kotoko Chief Executive Officer (CEO), George Amoako has defended the club's decision to participate in Africa following their MTN FA Cup triumph last year.

Asante Kotoko club petitioned the Normalization Committee on Tuesday 23 October 2018 to allow them to participate in next season’s CAF confederations cup as winners of the last FA cup competition.

The CEO of the Kumasi-based club has jumped in defence of his club saying the decision of the Porcupine Warriors corresponds with the statutes of CAF.

"As it stands now, Kotoko are still the FA Cup champions, which means we qualify to play in the CAF Confederation Cup per the statutes," George Amoako told Graphic Sports Online.

He rubbished suggestions claiming the club is unpreparedness due to the suspension of the league and the inadequacy of funds.

"But we (Kotoko) have money to go to Africa and our results in the past two months show that we are prepared. Apart from that we are in the process of recruiting some quality play to revamp the team we already have and the coach is working on that now", he added.

The GFA Normalisation Committee is yet to respond to the request made by Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
