Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central Patrick Boamah has urged the Ghana Football Association to withdraw from upcoming World Cup 2022 qualifiers against rivals Nigeria.

According to him, the Black Stars in their current state is no match for the Nigerian team and that it will be in the interest of Ghana to forfeit that game.

He advocated the dissolution of the Black Stars and contended that the Black Stars should embark on no international competition for the next five years.

The lawmaker said that whereas Nigeria distinguished itself at the AFCON, the Black Stars failed miserably.

"If need be we should dissolve our national team and prepare a team over the next five years," Patrick Boamah said at the floor of parliament on Wednesday.

“We should not waste our time playing Nigeria in the next World Cup qualifier. Look at the team Nigeria has, even though they are out of the tournament I don’t think with this current set-up, we can stand the Nigerians.”

Black Stars put up a poor show at AFCON 2021 where the team exited the tournament in the group stage for the first time in 16 years.

In a group that contained Morocco, Gabon and Comoros, the Black Stars failed to win a single game, finishing bottom of with only a point.

Due to this, the Ghana Football Association on Wednesday evening sacked Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac after four months in charge.

It follows the receipt of the Technical Report from the coach, the Medical Report and the Report from the Management Committee following Ghana’s early exit.

A statement said: "The Executive Council after considering the three reports and engagements with key stakeholders has decided to end its relationship with Coach Milovan Rajevac and also decided that the Black Stars Management Committee be reconstituted."
