The Muslim Janazah (funeral) prayers and burial service for Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna is underway.
The two officials were among eight people who died when a Ghana Air Force helicopter crashed in the Adansi-Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
The national tragedy has prompted a wave of mourning, with tributes pouring in from across the country.
The burial rites is expected to draw a host of high-profile dignitaries, including President John Mahama, the Vice President, the Speaker of Parliament, and the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the National Chief Imam.
Their remains will be transferred to the Military Cemetery in Accra for their final burial.
While the two Muslim victims are being buried today, a larger inter-denominational state funeral for all eight victims is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square.
