Brazil are through to the round of 16 of the Russia 2018 World Cup after beating Serbia 2-0.

Both teams needed a positive result to progress and Brazil grabbed it with ease.

The game started in an intense manner with both sides pouring forward to search for the breakthrough.

Neymar, Jesus all had decent chances but could not score for Brazil.

The goal came in the 36th minute, a precise pass from Coutinho was met by Paulinho who saw Stojkovic off his line and lifted the ball into the net.

From that point, Brazil took charge off the game and went into the break with a 1-0 lead.

The second half started with Serbia been the better of the two sides, they piled pressure on the Brazilians but failed to get the equalizer.

It was Brazil that added to their tally as Thiago Silva rose highest to head in a Neymar corner on the 68th minute.

Brazil will now play Mexico in the next stage with Switzerland also playing Sweden.
