Reports from England pencil Sam Allardyce as the new coach of its national football team after a poor showing at Euro 2016 effectively ended the tenure of Roy Hodgson.

Allardyce 61, who has had stints at Newcastle, West Ham, Bolton and Notts County is expected to resign from his current post at Sunderland on Thursday after nine months with a year left on his contract.

Sunderland meanwhile in a statement has assured fans and stakeholders it shall seek the best interest of the club despite intense media speculation about the future of the coach fondly called Big Sam.

Although Allardyce who started coaching in 1994 with Blackpool is yet to win a major trophy as a manager he nonetheless is respected for transformations he brings to his teams.
