NSA directs GFA to move Ghana-Nigeria World Cup qualifier to another venue

The National Sports Authority (NSA) has informed the GFA of their plans to close down the Cape Coast Stadium to enable exterior and beautification works ahead of this year's Independence day commemoration on March 6.

The Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria are scheduled to lock horns in the playoff round of the African qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The first leg of what will be a two-legged encounter is scheduled to be staged in Ghana in late March. The GFA after last week's draw announced that Ghana will be hosting rivals Super Eagles at the Cape Coast Stadium.

But, it seems the upcoming clash will not be played at the Cape Coast following a release by the NSA.

GFA to meet today over Black Stars future

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will meet today, Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Secretariat in Accra.

The Executive Council will be meeting to discuss among other things, the Black Stars AFCON 2021 campaign and the way forward for the senior national team.

This comes after the Black Stars' poor show at AFCON 2021 where the team exited the tournament in the group stage for the first time in 16 years.

In a group that contained Morocco, Gabon and Comoros, the Black Stars failed to win a single game, finishing bottom of with only a point.

'Stay out of my Black Stars issue' - Mohammed Salisu warns Alhaji Grusah

King Faisal bankroller Alhaji Grusah has revealed that Mohammed Salisu is not interested in playing for the Black Stars.

The Southampton centre back failed to honour call up for the national team under Kwesi Appiah and CK Akonnor.

He was expected to earn a call up ahead of the AFCON 2021 but was surprisingly left out of Ghana's squad despite his impressive outings in the Premier League.

But Grusah speaking in an interview revealed that the former Real Valladolid defender is not interested in playing for the West African country.
