GJA opens nominations for 2025 Executive Elections

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has announced the opening of nominations for prospective national and regional executives to contest this year’s election, slated for June 30.

According to the Elections Committee, in a statement dated May 16, nominations will officially close on Friday, May 30.

“The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is pleased to announce that nominations for the Association’s 2025 National and Regional Executive Elections officially open today, Friday, May 16, 2025, and will close on Friday, May 30, 2025” the statement announced.

The committee has noted that the electoral process marks a key milestone in the democratic calendar of the Association.

The statement which is jointly signed by Mr. Peter Martey Agbeko (Chair), Kwaku Owusu-Peprah (Secretary) and Beatrice Asamani Savage (Member) has called on all eligible members with the passion and competence to lead the Association at either the national or regional level to step forward and pick up nomination forms.

The positions to be contested for at the national level includes the President, Vice President, General Secretary, Organising Secretary, Treasurer and the Public Affairs Officer.

At the regional levels, the available portfolios are: the Regional Chairman, Vice Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer positions.

Meanwhile, the Elections Committee is mandated to organise, conduct and supervise the GJA elections, with technical support from the Electoral Commission of Ghana.

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana will oversee the conduct of the elections on Monday, June 30, 2025.
