Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, who was the Deputy Director of CID was made to act as Director General when the substantive post holder, COP, Bright Oduro proceeded on leave prior to retirement on January 3, 2018.

The former Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Bright Oduro, was asked to proceed on leave in October 2017.

Bright Oduro, who was a former Greater Accra crime officer, according to reliable sources, has accumulated leave prior to his retirement in January 2018 and was therefore instructed to go on leave which ran into his retirement period.

Before her promotion as acting CID Director, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah’s professionalism was questioned by some Ghanaians after she was captured in an audio tape recorded and allegedly leaked to the public by Kwame Asare Obeng alias A Plus who accused Francis Asenso Boakye and Samuel Abdulai Jinapor of trying to influence a deal in favour of Unibank.

Political Science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Ransford Yaw Gyampo said in 2017 that  Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah appointment as the acting CID boss is inappropriate, describing it as not being “politically smart”.

However, Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo- Danquah who was made acting Director General of the CID in 2017 has been confirmed as the substantive Director General of the Criminal Investigative Department in a letter signed by the Inspector General of Police David Asante Appeatu.

In the same Letter, DCOP Anthony Tennyson Aidoo who was Ag Director General of ICT has been also confirmed as the Director General of ICT.
