Manchester City winger Jeremy Doku has paid a special visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during his holiday in Ghana, the country of his parents.

The Belgian international has been engaging in a range of meaningful activities across Ghana, with the meeting alongside the King of the Ashanti Kingdom standing out as a significant highlight of his trip.

Doku received the Asantehene’s blessings as he connected deeply with his Ghanaian roots.

During the courtesy call, Doku presented Otumfuo Osei Tutu II with a Manchester City jersey, symbolizing respect and appreciation for the king and the Ashanti heritage. This gesture cemented the strong ties between the Premier League star and his ancestral origins.

The visit was a meaningful moment for Doku as he continued to explore his cultural background and heritage on his time off from club duties.

Aside from the royal visit, Doku also reconnected with his family by visiting his childhood home in Accra. He further immersed himself in the local community by participating in a football game involving locals from Madina.

The event was festive, culminating with a trophy and medals awarded to the winning team, highlighting Doku’s commitment to giving back to the community during his stay.

Doku’s vacation also included a poignant trip to Cape Coast, where he visited the historic Elmina Castle, a site with deep significance in Ghana’s and Africa’s history.

This part of his journey evidently held emotional weight as he reflected on the heritage and history of the region. His visit to such landmark sites reflects his growing interest in understanding his ancestral past beyond sport.

The 23-year-old winger recently helped Manchester City compete in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, scoring two goals in three appearances before the team was eliminated by Saudi champions Al Hilal in the round of 16.

Following his Ghana vacation, Doku is set to return to England to begin preparations for the new season with Manchester City, renewed and reconnected with his heritage.
