The Ministry of the Interior has announced a review of the curfew imposed on Binduri Township and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region.
Effective Tuesday, July 15, 2025, the new curfew hours will run from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. daily. This adjustment follows an Executive Instrument and recommendations from the Upper East Regional Security Council.
The curfew forms part of efforts to maintain peace and security in the area following recent tensions. Authorities have urged residents, including traditional leaders, youth groups, and opinion leaders, to remain calm and resolve disputes through peaceful and lawful means.
In addition to the curfew, a total ban remains in place on the carrying of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons, as well as the movement of motorbikes and the wearing of smocks by both men and women within the affected communities.
Anyone found violating these directives will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The directive was signed by the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in Binduri.
Residents are encouraged to comply with all security measures to avoid confrontation with law enforcement agencies.
