Even though former Ghana international John Paintsil can smile that he got announced as the assistant coach of South African football giants Kaizer Chiefs, his assault case in Ghana could derail his transition of becoming a credible coach.

Even though it was an altercation with his wife over a vehicle which landed him at the East Legon police station for which he was granted bail, Painstil faces an even steeper climb in the case involving his supposed assault of the East Legon District Police Commander during interrogation.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr. Emmanuel Basintale has refused a suggestion from the Accra Circuit Court for the two parties to use Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) to settle the dispute.

Paintsil meanwhile pleads not guilty to four counts of causing harm, offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace, assault of a public officer and threat to harm.

The former Leicester, Fulham and Maritzburg United footballer concluded his 17-year career recently but his tempestuous relationship with wife Richlove Paintsil has proved unsettling with some observers noting that John’s wife who has packed some of her items from her matrimonial home yet demands privileges has been a source of confusion coupled with her scant dress style and night clubbing ways.
