The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has stated that it has accepted a bail condition proposed by the lawyers of the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere.

This is contained in a post on August 1.

“The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has accepted revised bail conditions proposed by legal counsel for Mr. Paul Adom-Otchere, former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL),” the OSP stated.

According to the post “The revised terms, which meet the objectives of the original bail conditions, have been secured by the Jospong Group of Companies, acting as surety.

“The matter remains under active investigation by the OSP” the post concluded.

The development follows an earlier announcement by the OSP that Adom-Otchere had been formally charged and detained after failing to meet initial bail requirements.

He was expected to provide “two landed properties (of no specific value) registered in his name,” but informed the OSP he “does not own landed property in Ghana.”

That failure meant he remained in custody, unlike his co-accused, Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive of Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems, who were also charged but not reported to be in detention.

All three are being investigated in connection with a controversial revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm reportedly linked to the proprietor of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).

The OSP is probing possible procurement breaches, including a sole-sourced contract awarded to a company not approved by the GACL Board.

Meanwhile, the GACL has terminated its revenue assurance audit contract with Evatex Logistics Limited — the agreement at the centre of the ongoing corruption probe by the OSP.
