The Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour Awuah, says he is grateful to the media for unearthing the Mawarko saga.

The minister who was speaking to Joy FM said without the effort of the press the assault would not have been heard by his ministry.

“I’m so grateful to the press for unearthing it because without the press there will be no way we will hear these, it is possible some may be happening in other places but because the press have not seen it does why we’ve not heard it.”

The minister has also tasked his department to investigate and audit Mawarko to come up with a full reports of the situation and any other findings at the company.

According to him most companies in the country will be audited as part of their normal routine duties.

“It is possible that it may even happen in the Ghanaian company, so as part of the routine work done by the labour department they will be conducting labour audit and labour related issues in most organisations but I do admit that they limited in number and resources to be able to do that.”

“I must also admit that it is possible that some of these occurrences may be happening in some other places.” He noted.
