Two suspected robbers remanded after Mallam Junction attack

The Amanfro District Police Command under the Weija Division has remanded two suspects into custody following a robbery incident at Mallam Junction on October 16, 2025.

According to the police, four men reportedly attacked passengers at the junction, but three — identified as Stephen Amoani, 42, Osei Antwi, 30, and Kwame Mike — were arrested after an intelligence-led operation. One suspect, identified as Kofi Sammy, managed to escape while wielding a pump-action gun.

A police spokesperson said, “During the search, officers retrieved a cutlass from the back of suspect Osei Antwi’s vehicle, a black Honda CR-V with registration number DV 3145-2025.

“We also found three gallons of akpeteshie, GH₵12,055, and three mobile phones believed to be stolen items.”

However, police confirmed that suspect Kwame Mike escaped custody after requesting to use the washroom.

“The officer who escorted him has been invited for questioning as part of ongoing administrative inquiries,” the statement added.

Both Stephen Amoani and Osei Antwi were arraigned before the Weija Circuit Court on October 20, where the facts and charges were read to them in Twi.

They pleaded not guilty and have been remanded to reappear on November 10, 2025.
