Hearts of Oak’s quest to defend the Ghana Premier League title will face another test when they engage WAFA at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena today.

WAFA have proved to be tough customers for Hearts after beating Hearts of Oak last season 1-0 at the Red Bull Arena, where it has been a fortress for the 2020/21 Champions Premier League champions.

Coupled with WAFA’s enviable home record, the Phobians who are winless in their last 7 away matches against WAFA will certainly face a match of their lives this afternoon at 3:00 pm.

WAFA has recorded four wins and three draws in seven games against Hearts at the WAFA Park, scoring 12 goals and conceding just two goals in the process. The Academy lads have also kept six clean sheets during that time.

WAFA lost their matchday 1 fixture by a lone goal to King Faisal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium courtesy Zubeiru Ibrahim's strike and would want to appease their fans with a home win against the Phobians.

Hearts of Oak, on the other hand, hope to secure their first win at the Sogakope Red Bull Arena as well as their first win of the season.

Samuel Boadu will be hoping his charges will come to the party after firing blank against Legon Cities over the weekend.

Despite creating a plethora of chances the Phobians failed to hit the back of the net with the likes of Kofi Kordzi, Salifu Ibrahim, Daniel Afriyie fluffing their lines.

Boadu expressed displeasure at his attackers' in a post-match interview.

“We had a problem with our attacking side because we created a lot of chances and we should have scored at least one goal but we squandered all the chances. We still have more time to work on them”

“This is the time to sit down and analyze the situation where the problem is and solve it,” he said.

WAFA lie 16th of the log while Hearts of Oak are placed 13th ahead of today's crunch game.
