But for the intervention of officials at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Chief Director of the sector, Frank Quist would have exchanged blows with President of the Ghana Olympic Committee(GOC) Ben Nunoo Mensah today(Thursday).

The Chief Director, descended heavily on the GOC boss who was at the Ministry this afternoon to finalize arrangements for the Commonwealth Youth Games in Bahamas but in the heat of deliberations, Mr. Quist took offence and verbally abused Mr. Nunoo Mensah.

According to the President of the Ghana Swimming Association, Theophilus Ezeh who accompanied the GOC boss, the Chief Director attempted to beat up the GOC President as he pounced on him with a fist.

"The GOC President was at the Ministry to finalize travelling arrangements and that led to a fierce verbal attack from the Chief Director. He was furious and nearly punched the GOC President but some GOC executives retrained him,"he narrated.

Mr. Ezeh further explained that, the GOC has done its part with regards to the Commonwealth Games and waiting on the Ministry to do their bit, by buying tickets for the contingents.

Meanwhile, he said, attempts to get the Chief Director to complete the process has yielded no results and the athletes might not be able to travel on Saturday for the games.

The GOC President he said, was not pleased with the development and questioned the Chief Director on the cause of the delay with the tickets.

"Mr. Quist became angry and began to insult the GOC President and got up from his seat to engage in a fight which was very bad,"he stated.

He said,it would be a very big disgrace if the country is unable to go to Bahamas adding that, the current Director's character would not help in the development of sports.

The GOC President has decided not to comment on the issue but rather referred the matter to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah.

Ghana was scheduled to travel to Bahamas on Saturday for the Commonwealth Youth Games with a 23-member team.
