The Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) have warned the public against a fraudulent crypto investment platform known as “Daily Wealth Guide.”
The two institutions said the platform is being promoted through a doctored video purportedly showing President John Dramani Mahama endorsing the investment scheme.
According to a notice issued by the BoG on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the operators are promising Ghanaians high returns through a crypto investment platform and encouraging members of the public to deposit funds.
The BoG said such activities amount to deposit-taking under the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930), which requires entities engaged in deposit-taking to be licensed.

The central bank stressed that it has not licensed any individual or entity to engage in crypto investment.
It warned that individuals or entities involved in the scheme are committing an offence and could be penalised and required to refund all funds received.
The BoG further said offenders could face administrative penalties ranging from 500 to 100,000 penalty units under Section 53(3) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044).
It added that persons or entities involved in such activities could also be reported to law enforcement agencies for investigation and prosecution.
The central bank urged the public to verify the licensing status of individuals or entities with the BoG or other relevant authorities before depositing funds with them.
It also advised media houses, including radio, television and online platforms, not to advertise the products and services of such unlicensed entities without first verifying their licensing status.
The BoG and SEC urged the public to avoid engaging with the scheme and report suspected illegal activities to the Financial Stability Department of the Bank of Ghana.
