Technical working groups under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have met to map out a contingency plan for the oil sector.
The National Oil Contingency Plan has roles assigned to the Immigration Service, Customs Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Ghana Ports & Harbours Authority and other stakeholders in the event of an oil spillage on the country’s shores.
Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Mahama Ayariga noted the risks associated with the sector made it imperative to have a plan in place to combat effects of oil spillages and know which compensation packages to be activated for victims.
