Airtel, 2 others given 6 month ultimatum to extend coverage to Adaklu

The Ministry of Communications has given two telecommunications company three telecommunications companies a six month ultimatum to extend their service to the Adaklu District in the Volta region or face sanctions. The Member of Parliament (MP) for Adaklu Constituency, Kwame Governs Agbodza,  raised concerns on the floor of Parliament about the unavailability of Airtel, Glo and Expresso (Kasapa) services in the area making communication with the rest of the world difficult for the residents.

Responding to the concerns by the MP for Adaklu, Communications Minister, Ursla Owusu, said the ministry had put in place measures to get all rural areas connected to the rest of the country.

According to her the ministry has given six months grace period to the three companies concerned to extend their coverage to Adaklu or face sanctions.
 
"Mr Speaker, three out of the six mobile network operators in Ghana have full 2G and 3G networks in Adaklu. The other three namely, Airtel, Glo and Kasapa have been directed by the National Communications Authority to provide coverage at Adaklu and it's surrounding environs or face sanctions", she stated on the floor of  Parliament on Tuesday.
