Daily minimum wage increased by 10 percent

Government  has announced an increment in the daily minimum wage of workers from GHS8.80 to GHS9.68 effective January 2018.

This was announced during a National Tripartite Committee through a  statement jointly signed by the Employment and Labour Relations Minister Ignatius Baffuor Awuah, representing the government, Terence Darko and Dr. Yaw Baah for the Employers Association and Organised Labour, respectively.

The statement from the National Tripartite Committee read  “Accordingly, the Committee directs that any establishment, institution or organisation whose Daily Minimum Wage is below the new National Daily Minimum wage should adjust its wages upward with effect from 1st January 2018."

It also warns that any establishment, institution organization that does otherwise will be sanctioned in the accordance with the law.
