Energy Minister to commission 13 Rural Electrification Projects in Central Gonja

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, is set to commission a series of completed rural electrification projects in the Central Gonja District of the Savanna Region on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

The projects, executed under the National Electrification Scheme, cover several communities including Zolampe, Nikpegu, Torope, Dokope, Kpatinyan, Darivogupe, Bagpe, Dawunipe, Diwurupe, Larigbani, Mammudupe, Sankaupe, and Nyinyape.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, the commissioning marks another milestone in government’s efforts to expand access to reliable and affordable electricity, enhance the quality of life in rural communities, and promote inclusive development.

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, Hon. Jinapor reiterated government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring equitable access to modern energy services across the country.

“Electricity is not just about lighting homes; it is about powering opportunity, driving enterprise, and transforming lives. Through projects like this, we are delivering on our promise to make energy the bedrock of Ghana’s green and inclusive development,” the Minister stated.

The Ministry reaffirmed its resolve to continue expanding the national grid to underserved areas, ensuring that every Ghanaian has access to clean and affordable energy in line with the country’s green transition agenda.

The event is expected to bring together traditional authorities, opinion leaders, officials of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), the Central Gonja District Assembly, and members of the beneficiary communities.
