Management of First Allied Savings and Loans Limited is appealing to its aggrieved customers to be calm because withdrawals of their locked up savings will soon commence.

The management said the company has been deliberating with the Bank of Ghana (BoG) on how to begin the disbursements of the locked up savings but some hitches are preventing them to do so.

Some aggrieved customers of First Allied Savings and Loans in Kumasi on Tuesday hit the streets to protest the financial institution’s refusal to allow customers to make withdrawals.

Hundreds of customers clad in red and black gathered at Kumasi Children’s Park for the protest.

They subsequently present a petition to the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, for his intervention.

Prior to this, the customers had embarked on a similar action last Tuesday where they presented a similar petition to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace for his interventions.

Speaking in an interview with PrimeNewsGhana on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, the Public Affairs Manager of First Allied Savings and Loans, Jones Owusu said all the negotiations with the BoG have so far been successful.
He revealed that some of the actions of some customers are affecting the disbursement schedules.

Mr Owusu explained that because it is a savings and loans company, some customers took some loans and as such owes the company, but because of the continues protest, customers who owe the company have also refused to pay the loans they took.

He added that those who took the loans have refused to pay because they believe the company is on the verge of collapsing so there is no need to pay and that has contributed to the company’s inability to allow withdrawals.

Mr Owusu assured that the deliberations with BoG have so far been successful and withdrawals will soon begin.

He urged customers to bear with the company in these difficult moments.
