Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) CEO, Afua Asabea Asare, has been appointed to the advisory board of the International Trade Centre (ITC) Trade and Investment Support Institution (TISI).

The ITC TISI advisory board is a voluntary independent body established to support the International Trade Centre (ITC) to improve the quality, relevance, and effectiveness of the Trade and Investment Support institution (TISI) strengthening program and its related activities.

As a member of the ITC TISI Board, Afua Asabea, is expected to use her rich experience as a business leader and CEO of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority, to provide guidance and strategic orientation in the area of strengthening Trade and Investment Support Institutions (TISIs) according to a statement signed by Arancha Gonzales, Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC).

The statement further commended  Ms. Asare for her commitment and contribution to the ITC and is therefore expected to support Trade and Investment Promotion organizations around the world to deliver trade impact for good with her new appointment.

The appointment to the ITC TISI advisory Board took effect from 24 October 2018 and will end in 2020 during the 13th Trade Promotion Organization Network World Conference and Awards.

Ms. Asare is elated on her new appointment and is optimistic about making a difference on the board of the ITC TISI.

Until her appointment as CEO of GEPA, Ms. Asare was the Special Advisor to the Minister of Business Development.

She is a lifelong Positive Leadership and Strategy enthusiast with a background in Integrated Communications. with over 25 years’ experience across varied corporate environment including Ghana Telecom where she worked as General Manager and Head of Communications.

She has an MA in Positive Leadership and Strategy from IE University in Madrid, an MBA in International Business from ESG from Paris Graduate School of Business, PMD in Strategic Marketing from Harvard Business School, Boston, Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from KNUST, Ghana, Post-Graduate Diploma in Organizational Development from the University of Cape-coast, Post Graduate Diploma in Communication Studies from University of Ghana, Legon.

Afua also holds a Diploma in Public Relations and Advertising from Ghana Institute of Journalism.

Ms. Afua Asabea has authored various industry and business articles, on coaching, leadership development, and on the diversity of thought and inclusion.

She is the founder and the lead consultant at AYA &Company and until March 2017 was also an Adjunct Lecturer in Leadership, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Supply Chain Management and Mass Communication at the Ghana Institute of management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
