Ghana's best Cocoa Farmers on official UK tour

Recipients of the prestigious National Best Cocoa Farmers prize: Nana Kweku Adu - 2015, Nana Opoku Gyamfi - 2016 National Best Cocoa Farmer as well as Madam Martha Addai, who was adjudged the 2016 Most Enterprising Female Cocoa Farmer are currently embarking on a 2-week tour to the United Kingdom beginning this week.

In an occasion to flag-off the tour, the trio paid a courtesy call on Ghana's High Commissioner to the UK - Papa Owusu Ankomah.

The trip which is fully sponsored by the Ghana Cocoa Board forms part of the 2015 and 2016 prize package for the Best Cocoa Farmers as well as the Most Enterprising Female Cocoa Farmer award.


Addressing the visitors, the High Commissioner - Papa Owusu Ankomah lauded the efforts of the cocoa farmers as well as for their commitment to ensuring the sustainable production of cocoa in Ghana over the past years. He further urged the Cocoa farmers to go beyond cocoa cultivation to cocoa processing as a way of facilitating value addition to their products.
He also commended the effort of the Ghana Cocoa Board in considering measures to facilitate local processing as well as check price volatility of cocoa and reiterated the High Commission's commitment to wooing more investors to Ghana - particularly, the cocoa industry.


Also part of the delegation were two members of the Board of Directors of Ghana's Cocoa Board; Nana Johnson Mensah, Nana Obeng Akrofi as well as Senior Public Affairs Manager - Noah K. Amenyah.
