The Ghana Tourism Authority - GTA, has rolled out its single window system to facilitate monitoring of revenue generated as well as the general growth of the industry.

The new single window system is expected to track revenue collected by various agencies in the country’s tourism sub-sector.

Commenting on the development after the launch of the single window in Accra, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Catherine Afeku noted that the new revenue monitoring system will simplify the collection of government’s 1% tourism levy from all stakeholders.

According to her, the system will eliminate the hustle in the current process where tourist facilities have to pay the levies at the bank. With the new system she said "every time a guest checks in, that one percent of the tourism levy will be automatically collected and at the end of the month it will be automatically deposited in government coffers“.

Ghana’s tourism industry continues to hold great potential for country’s economic growth, both as a huge foreign exchange earner as well as in jobs creation – facilitated by its growing private sector participation.
