Recent increases in fuel and utility tariffs have combined to drive inflation to a six-year high.

Inflation for March 2016 was 19.2 percent, a monthly change rate of 0.7 percent from February's 18.5 percent and the highest ever recorded since August 2009.
Announcing the figures, Government Statistician, Dr Philomena Nyarko said the main reason for  the increase in inflation was transportation and utilities.
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) in December, last year, increased  electricity and water tariffs by 59.2 and 89 percent respectively while fuel prices have gone up by about 20 per cent since January this year.
