The Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations has in a statement provided updates on the status of their negotiations with UTAG.
In a statement signed by Deputy Minister, Bright Wireko-Brobby, the Ministry said: "A government team represented by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations, Finance and Education on one part, and the University Teachers Association of Ghana, UTAG, on the other met today, Friday, the 30th of July, 2021 to deliberate on issues relating to Conditions of Service for UTAG."
The statement said the government team is committed to the following:
1. The the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed on 16th June, 2021 will be implemented effective August 2021.
2. That government will consider a review of the current rate of Research Allowance payable in 2022; andÂ

3. That on the issue of the "relative value of their salaries" as averred by UTAG, a committee that includes representatives from the governemnt side and UTAG will be constituted within 30 days to consider all the issues and make recommendations to governemnt for approval.
