Humans, being the social creatures we are, love to sharpen our social skills when the opportunity presents itself and at the 2016 Charted Institute of Marketing, Ghana Awards in Accra deserving marketers and other business notables were rewarded for their immense work in 2015, at the State Banquet Hall in Accra on October 8.

The GBC Band served some really good music as did the Pacesetters Band whose highlife offerings was delightful as it was memorable.

The Salt and Light Ministries headed by Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee offered the opening prayer for the night and worthy Jerry Adjorlolo served as host. Without seeking to be consciously funny, Jerry executed his task well when he chipped in quips having latent meanings especially of the Kalyppo craze and failed presidential aspirants dilemma.

Guest of Honour, Omanhene of Essikado, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, did not disappoint. The elder showed he is a ferocious reader and one who has grasp of varied forms of governance structures be it Traditional, Oriental or Western. He warned the wholesale adoption of European modules in governance, economy, culture and spiritual life is already proving costly.

A pleasant surprise on the night was the reading of citations accompanying awards by darling broadcaster, Gertrude Opare Addo. Her voice was as golden as it ever was and it was a refreshing experience to behold her on the night.

Surely, the night couldn’t be jolly without food and beverages and the Golden Tulip Hotel crew discharged themselves creditably.

From delectable pastries, easy to gulp cocktails, traditional meal offerings to varied rice dishes and sauces, there was something for everyone.

The Alomo Root Wine became a toast of many first time tasters who praised its herbal touch yet left a flavored taste on one’s tongue.

When the curtain was drawn, Patrick Akpe Kwame Akorli – MD Goil emerged the Marketing Man of the Year whiles Ms. Maidie Elizabeth Arkutu – MD, Unilever scooped the Marketing Woman of the Year Award while over 40 others were also rewarded for their efforts at the 27th Awards Night in the series.
