Some market analyst in Ghana have projected that about 1500 new jobs will be created in the country’s aviation industry.

The speculation follows an earlier announcement by management of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority of some expected new comers into the industry by the beginning of next year – 2018.

The expected jobs will range from pilots, flight attendants, administrative support staffs, operations agents, avionics technicians, contractors, etc.

In an encounter with the media earlier this week – Director General of the GCAA, Samuel Allotey, disclosed that at least five new airlines were currently at the final stages of their license processing and were due to commence business early next year.

The GCAA boss had highlighted some of the new airline operators to include, Babyjet Airways – which is said to have already gotten its air carrier license; Montrac Air; Smile Air, among others.

Currently, an estimated four (4) out of twenty (20) workers in the Ghana are said to be employed by the aviation industry.

Meanwhile, there is  increased level of anxiety in some quarters of the aviation industry over the fate of Starbow Airways, following last weekend crash of one of its flights at the Kotoka International airport in Accra and a subsequent pause in the airline’s operations.
