One of Ghana’s Telecom operators - Tigo is celebrating the 5th anniversary of its community development initiative: the Digital Changemakers competition.

To mark the anniversary, Tigo has announced the investment of an additional Ghc135,000 towards consolidating the impact made by some notable social entrepreneurs in the programme.

The company stated that the Changemaker competition which is currently running in partnership with the global non-profit organization, Reach for Change, will witness an increased level of reinvestment to engage five Tigo Digital Changemakers in social entrepreneurial initiatives across various communities in Ghana.

The shortlisted Changemakers will participate in a special five-year reinvestment competition and the winners announced by next month - September 2017.

Over the last five years, Tigo and Reach for Change have had some of the youngest and most innovative social entrepreneurs in Ghana participate in the Tigo Digital Changemakers Competition.

Beginning with Cecilia Fiaka, who emerged winner of the 2013 edition for her work in curbing teenage pregnancy, drug abuse as well as other negative behaviors; Josephine Marie Godwyll – who emerged winner of the 2015 edition for her exceptional work on digital literacy, among others; the Tigo Digital Changemaker competition has been a pacesetter in promoting a 21st century-inclined social entrepreneurship in Ghana while impacting thousands of lives in various communities in the process.
