The husband of actress and comedienne, Afia Schwarzenegger, Lawrence Abrokwa has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢20,000 with three sureties by an Accra Circuit Court on Monday.

Abrokwa was granted bail after his lawyer, Maurice Ampaw made his application before the court after the accused pleaded not guilty to two counts of domestic violence, threats of harm, publication of obscene material and assault.

All the sureties according to the court, presided over by Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye, must be gainfully employed.

Abrokwa was arrested on August 30, 2017, when an official complaint of an alleged assault was received from the actress, born Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa.

Police began investigations into the case after discharging him, but later on received information of a video showing Afia’s nudity, which went viral on social media.

The police suspecting that Abrokwa was the source of the leaked video, arrested and arraigned him before court.

Chief Inspector Maxwell Oppong told the court that initial investigations carried out by the police revealed the substance Abrokwah was seen threatening his wife with, in the video, was not acid but water.
