Veteran Ghanaian actress Mercy Asiedu who is known popularly for her roles in Kumahood movies has revealed she is well off today because of her career as an actress in Ghana.

In a phone interview on DaybreakHitz on Monday, September 20, 2021, she said she would have been poor if not for acting.

“In my life, acting has really helped me. I got everything I have now from acting,” she stated.

Mercy Asiedu revealed further that it was difficult when she started her acting career.

She said she was never paid for roles she played in the beginning, but eventually, as she became popular, things started going well.

“When I started acting, I was never paid until I attained my stardom,” she said.

She went on to say that the fact that one actor could make it using a particular channel, does not mean another actor wouldn’t also make it if they used the same channel.

According to her one actor's failure does not mean another actor will fail.

“Someone can sell tomatoes in the market and make it in life…but another person might not be able to do the same. Acting is a profession. A lot of people have succeeded at it while others didn’t. If you ask me, acting is a good job,” she added.

The actress who usually portrays the typical Akan girl said whatever one sows in the industry they will reap.

“It’s how you make your life and how you manage yourself that will help you. Suffer today and gain tomorrow is better than to gaining today and suffering tomorrow,” she stressed.

Mercy Asiedu is popular for her Concert Party stints and her many roles in Asoreba movies.
